Microchipping

Microchips Reunite families

White Dog And Gray Cat — Brusly, LA — Rivertown Animal Hospital

Did you know that microchips are one of the only ways to permanetly identify your pet as your own? The microchip, which is about the size of a grain of rice, is implanted under the skin in between the shoulder blades. Once we implant the microchip, it is registered to you automatically within 24 hours. You will receive an email to set up and account with the company, PetLink, and from there you will always be able to update your pets information.

If your pet ever gets lost, any animal shelter or veterinary clinic can scan the microchip and will be able to get the information to contact you. It is important to remember that although we wish the microchips were GPS trackers, they are not. So if you have a pet that frequently wanders, we recommend putting a tracking device on their collar as well!
